Copenhagen Fashion Week, starting today, is proof that Scandinavians are at least as good as anyone and can always do it better by staying ahead of the game. It is not only the international reputation of the fashion week, but the variety of the trade shows and specific places to see that makes Copenhagen a business-driven experience. Copenhagen Fashion Week cannot be spoken about without mentioning Copenhagen Fashion Fairs and especially CPH Vision, an established trade fair in Denmark. It has been held since 1998, survived several crises and is now back in business in the new season.

Spotlight: Andreas Oberkanins of Unit F and 10 Festival

Andreas Oberkanins, one of the founders of Unit F büro für mode, played a key role in the initial development and creation of the Viennese fashion scene. Since the year 2000, Unit F has acted as an aid to young, up-and-coming talent, having awarded 64 designers with grants to assist them in the challenge of distribution and production. The program which is funded by the Arts Division of the Federal Austrian Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture and Culture Division of the City of Vienna, was set up to introduce Austrian fashion onto the global market. On the homefront, Unit F organises the 10 Festival for Fashion and Photography (7th-17th of June), which aims to promote Austrian talent on Austrian soil. Today, Oberkanins tells TribaSpace about how the Austrian fashion industry has evolved, what we can expect from the festival and what problems Austria’s budding design talent faces. read more
