Designer Focus: Arrondissement Aq1
Arrondissement Aq1 was celebrated as the discovery of the season at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. This is the third collection from the label run by the young German talent Christina Arend, trained illustrator and fashion designer.
“It has always been my goal to realize my own collection made in Germany with the focus on international development,” Christina has said.
Aq1 is a code in Latin for eagle–independent and graceful are attributes that Arrondissement Aq1 feels represent their designs. “Dare and do” is the motto, which materializes in a mix of casual and evening wear, graphic linearity and embellishments.
The A/W 2010 collection, “Oneness Universe,” translates the idea of interconnectedness into an additional line of bags, belts and jewelry.
Silk, fine suede, rainbow python leather and soft jersey with small gold detailing are all combined tastefully.
In the S/S 2011 season, Christina Arend maintains her focus on nature. “I feel that everything is related and forms a unity. The accessories are a special feature of my collection. They complete the entire Aq1 look and make it unique. Graphical lines will always be maintained, but broken by different elements, which consistently change,“ states the designer.
